Chips Rafferty spent most of a coaching
career in the Army Physical Training Corps Coaching and Training
elite athletes in numerous sports as well as preparing soldiers
fit for duty.
Whilst working job share at the Joint Services
Mountain training Wing at Ripon he is currently serving in
the TA as an Adventure Training specialist with HQ 15 Brigade.
Performance
His personal performance over 3 decades
has seen achievements including Top 20 Finisher London Marathon!
3 X Combined/Service Triathlon Champion and most recently silver
medallist Long Course World Duathlon Championship (Austria
2003) World Championship Ironman qualifier Canada.
Adventurous highlights
include climbing leader of the first descent of Lows Gully Borneo,
many of the worlds most challenging caves and numerous world
mountain ranges. See video dairy.
Academic
An academic profile including a Master's
Degree discounts any accusation of "all brawn and no brain"
as do coaching qualifications including English Institute
of Sports "High Performance Coach".
Coaching
Coaching achievements include
two National Age Group Champions, winner and runner up Home
Nations Triathlon Championship and four GB Triathlon / Duathlon
Representatives.
Recently his involvement with High Altitude Mountaineering has seen him coaching and or climbing with three of the major Services expeditions;Everest West Ridge 2006, Ski Shishapangma 2007 and BSME Makalu 2008.
